I leave my tank light off at night as it is good for the betta to have a dark period. As to moving the tank from place to place i cant really give you an info on that but it is not good to leave them in direct sunlight.

It's not a good idea to move the bowls and sunlight is a no no. I imagine your temperatures to be warm; it still varies during the day. Drafts aren't good either. I usually find a comfortable place for each of my bettas and keep them there. If you move them near sunlight the temperature will vary even more. Bettas like stable temperature. 78-80 is best. Greeting from blizzard bound New York! luisalonso90 what outside temperatures do you experience in Costa Rica? Regarding lighting, I have Palm Lights 7W compact fluorescents on 2 gallon and 90 ounce acrylic tanks. Java Fern and Java Moss are low light plants and the light seems perfect for them. I use them on spawning tanks (so I can see what’s going on). You can get these at Petco or That Fish Place in several nice colors. They look great too. The only problem is they don’t last forever. I turn the lights on in the morning and off in the evening. Bettas are fine with lighting as long as it's low. They do perfectly well without lighting. Keep the bowl covered at all times.

my 2 bettas are different from each other one loves to move around with me and injoys different places and the other one gets REEEALY stressed when i simply put him on the table so i can clean the top of my big tank, i guess it depends on the fish maybe?
