My little Pearl has always been somewhere between a pink and a white, and I suspect I got him when he was unusually young for being from a pet store (he was very small and his fins have grown larger since I got him.) But today right after I did a 25% water change I noticed as he was happily swimming about that he now has large streaks (More like...splotchy streaks) of a darker pink on his back fins. (There has been no change to his two front flippers.) They definitely aren't red as to indicate an infection, and he has been eating like a pig and swimming around as much as always. Is this something I should be worried about, or is it just his fins growing and changing color?

From what I understand, white bettas will generally develop a red wash or maybe some red spots/streaks as they age. As long as he is acting happy and looking otherwise normal (no fin deterioration, etc) I would just keep an eye on him for a while but I'd think he's just fine. I may be wrong. If that's the case, someone with greater knowledge will correct me

Fish will change color as they age, and as they are kept in better conditions and receive a better diet. Additionally, fish with red color will typically experience fading as they age.

Hmm, well he isn't red, he's white. And they appeared very suddenly, I don't believe he had them yesterday. Perhaps he was bruised during the water change somehow? Because I've only had him for a few months...

Here, maybe this will help with the diagnosis. The picture kinda sucks but you can make out the dark splotch on his fin. (The very dark purple-ish spots are his tail pattern, the muted pink is what I'm referring to.)
