I like to know if we went a week trip to FL how would my 2 Betta's do is there any thing that could be put in there for them. I did that with fish I had long time a go went on a trip and they where ok with the food that you put in there I am new at taking care of Betta's. Oh one more thing way do that they puff up I have a red one that dose that and like to know way he dose I have never seen that before just like to know way they do that. Ginny

"Vacation food" that you buy at a pet store is not a good idea for single betta tanks. A better idea is to have someone you trust come to feed your fish every couple of days if possible. Set out the proper amount of food to be fed per meal ahead of time and explain everything in detail/writing for the fish sitter.
Puffing up as you described is known as "flaring." It is quite common for bettas to do this and nothing to worry about. In fact, it can actually be a form of exercise for them if you put a mirror up to their tank or move their tanks close enough to see each other for a few minutes each day.

I have put a mirror to the tank but the other 2 I had did not do that my red one dose when I am looking at him I get near it that is when puffs up. My 5 yr old thinks it is funny when he dose that and so do I think you for letting me know about it I am still trying to get pictures on hear. Ginny
