In a 2.5 gallon? No I dont think so. I had guppies in with my male betta in a 10 gallon and they got along fine because the guppies had a chance to swim away. In the 2.5 the guppies will get cornered too much

I agree, there is only room for the one betta in the 2.5 gal. The guppies would be constantly picked on and harassed. He'd probably be happier alone anyways

nope, still not enough. In general I've been told that bettas don't get along with other 'fancy finned' fish. I tried my betta and molly together in a 10 gallon and the betta only terrorized her for that short attempt. And if they're as messy as their molly cousins, that would be too much waste even if they did ignore each other.
