Hi everybody,
Having a problem with the office fish (Knightley!) and I'm coming straight to the experts for advice.
We've had him about 2 week , and his water becomes very, erm. "murky" within a 5 days. He's in a 1 gal tank, and I've been feeding him one pellet at a time to test if it's the food or not.
The water becomes thick with protein (yuck) and smelly. Oh boy!
Help?

Knightley needs a bigger castle and more water changes. Why not move him up to a 5gallon and add a nice gentle filter, heater and some soft plants for him to play in?

Is there anything else in the tank, like a live plant? If there's a plant in there and it's not a real aquatic plant or if its not getting enough light (usually flourescent) it will rot, and make a bad smell and cloud the water. Is anyone else feeding the fish?
