I have been reading up about compatible tankmates for bettas. I was reading that corydoras get along okay with bettas. I was looking at Meijer today (would never buy a fish from there, just looking) and the corys looked awfully small. I know they are bottom dwellers, but would Mr. Tibbles (my betta) eat the cory? and if they are okay tankmates what kind of cory should I get? Thanks, Cassie and Mr. Tibbles

First off, what size tank is it, and is it filtered and cycled?
It all depends on what kind of cories they are. Some either get really big and some are predatory. I've kept my betta with three bronze cories. He didn't eat them, he hung around with them a lot.

The tank I have now is only big enough for my betta, but I will be getting another tank this weekend. I am not sure what kind yet. But it will be filtered and cycled unless that's bad for the fish, then I won't do it. How big did the bronze cories get?

Bronze cories get to be 7 inches I do believe.
If you're getting a 5 gallon tank, either get panda or pygmy cories, because they only get up to 3 inches. The only reason I got bronze cories is because I could not get pygmies or pandas where I live.
If you want to go with bronze or albino cories, then I wouldn't go any less than a 10 gallon. Then with a 10, you could add a school of small tetras and some otos.

It all depends on your betta. If you introduce a paticularly aggressive betta into a community tank, he may be aggressive towards the other fish, and a docile one may not feel comfortable in a community tank and may never get used to it.
I've had my betta in with black neons for four monthes. I had to remove him because he was sick. I also know someone who kept them with glow light tetras. I think some species tend to be nippy, but not the smaller ones like neons and rasporas.
