I am a little confused about the whole transshiper thing. Thanks sorry, I meant to reply but i guess i got sidetracked you pay the person selling the fish $5 per fish for air cargo to the USA. the fish is picked up at the airport by the transhipper, who knows how to get them through customs and deal with all the associated red tape and paperwork. you contact the transhipper (the seller will give you his/her email address) to arrange shipment of the fish to your house. most breeders ship through linda olson in colorado - i've had fish sent through her 3 times - but there's also someone in florida who goes by the name pegasus. both charge $2 per fish handling, $0.60 per fish import tax, and a $5 box fee. linda charges $2 for a heat pack, pegasus charges $2.50. after that, you have to pay the cost of actual shipping, which may vary. expect approx $35 for ups overnight, $25 for ups two day, $25-30 for usps express, and $12 for priority mail (weather permitting). as you can see, it gets expensive, but if you're going to the trouble of having fish sent from thailand, i would strongly recommend having the fish sent overnight. in many areas, usps express mail is overnight - check their website for service committments between the transhipper's zip code and your own. up to six fish can be shipped per box, so it may make it more worthwhile for you to wait until there are multiple fish you want to purchase. you could also see if someone local to you also wants to purchase from overseas, so you can share shipping costs to one of your addresses. i hope this helps
