How can one tell when a betta is getting old? Recently my Francis Albert died. He was probably very close to two years of age. He began losing color and slowed down a lot. Always a very large, robust fish, he seemed to shrink a bit in size over a period of several weeks. In the last few days of his life, he appeared to forget how to eat. He would swim up to his "feeding spot" and chomp at nothing in particular, then swim to the bottom. I don't think he was sick --just got old and it was his time to go. I'd appreciate your opinions. Thanks.

Basically everything you described can be symptoms of old age.
