Bob George never flared in the two years I have known him until recently when I bought a mirror to hang on his tank. I never have up there long. About 5 to 10 minutes. I was wondering if it is okay to leave it hanging.
Will he ever tire of flaring or is it unsafe forhim to be flared so long?

each of my bettas has a flare buddy and they just love it, a couple of them cant because of where they are but they have mirrors, theyre happy and healthy and i leave the mirrors there all the time. i think they really enjoy it a lot, i dont find theyre stressed by it

Ok, so I installed a 2"x3" mirror to the back of his aquarium and he's been flaring for about 20 minutes.
Is that normal?

yes, thats fine, hes enjoying himself, he'll stop when he's tired, just give him a place where he can separate himself from his buddy for privacy when he's tired. they flare more at first but then they begin to recognize the other betta and dont seem to really see him as a threat, more as something interesting

If he keeps flaring and doesn't seem to be stopping, you might want to remove the mirror and only give him 15 minutes a day of flare time. You don't want him to wear himself down.

I agree that if he seems to adjust and get used to the mirror, it shouldn't be a problem. I would use your own discretion. I couldn't do that with one of my guys because he's so feisty that he'll flare constantly for hours and stress himself out.
