Hey, I just got a female betta and put her in my 5.5 gallon and she is very nice and active. Now my question I wanted to get some guppies for the tank, would the female act the same as a male would and attack them all the time?

I'm not sure if it would be that great of a mix. Just to mention from personal experience, my female betta is just as feisty if not more so than my males at times. It's the nature of all bettas to be aggressive at times.
I realize it's been a while since you've asked this question though...what did you decide to do?

I got dwarf gouramis For the most part they are very friendly towards one another. Of course when they eat they do chase each other, but that's normal. No nip marks or anything yet.

Good point I think she feels neglected, I don't even have a name for her yet Let's see if she likes the camera like the males.... For your other question, I got 4 dwarf gouramis. I'll try to take some pictures of them but they do not like the camera and just hide behind the plant ;D

the spotted one i was considering bringing back.... for some reasons:
1. hes too big for a 5.5 gallon 2. he picks on the dwarfs (around 1.5")
So yeah he's in a 5.5 gallon, but I'm not sure if I even want to keep him around for the bigger xmas tank.

ya, spotted get big and have NASTY tempers too. Yes, I've noticed that. The dwarfs swim away from him except for the red flame, he fights back, but only to the dotted guy.

My females do great with guppies and platys. The bettas love guppy fry so you should have a mating pair to produce fry for the bettas to stalk.
