I went to walmart yestyerday to pickup a few things. I was picking out a can opener and the fish guy comes up to me and say,"you should of been her monday we got alot of females in"....I said I wasnt going to buy anymore until after my move to Arizona. anyway I went to peek on the fish they had left. The other fish guy says we had some good ones come in.I repeated to him I wasnt buying..He laughed alittle while walking off and said, "will see".. They had one gold female there. She wasnt looking so great. I decided not to buy any....Brought my groceries home.and sat there thinking of that little female..... :Dheaded back and brought her home.
I have an established 10 gallon female betta tank. I did some reading that if I rermoved all fish and rearranged tank, the new female might be ok.But to watch them....Well I did that.and long story short.I ended up taking her out and putting her into her own setup. She just was miserable..The four other girls didn't take to kindly to her.they had her backed into a corner.... :)she's happy and fine now...living in a section of a 30 gallon.

I've had a male betta (Vic) for four years, and my three-year old (Ralph) just passed away. I decided to try females. Greta lasted 5 days. I took my water for testing, they said it was perfect, but apparently my home is too cold for females, even though it's OK for Vic. Anyway I came home with a heater... and TWO females After a day and a half of the territory dispute the purple one (I'm not naming them until they last a week) had almost no fins left but she refused to submit. I bought a tank divider and added some melafix. I can't believe how fast her fins are growing back, and of all three, she is the most active and has an extreme appetite. I love the way her colors get so bright when she's flaring, too.

Well that little female died.I found her at bottom of the tank yesterday morning. Funny thing is she was eating and looking great Sunday night...
Females can be as aggressive as the males I'm finding out...

I'm sorry to hear about your fishie. My red girl died also - today. She was the aggressor, and was fine until last night when she was not eating. The purple one is still happy. Probably more happy now that she has the whole tank to herself. I think I will take store credit instead of another fish.
