I had an interesting thing happen. My Betta built his first bubble nest last night. He has blown a lot of bubbles prior to this, but didn't build an organized nest. What I find interesting is that I fasted him for the first time yesterday.
Unfortunately, my tank isn't through cycling so his beautiful work will be destroyed soon. Hope it doesn't break his little fishy spirit.

Congrats As I notice with my unfiltered betta tank, is that after every water change they start to build instantly. It's almost like a "thank you for giving me better water" kinda thing.

Some of my bettas used to make new bubble nests everytime after I changed their water. They don't do it anymore because I change their water pretty often and I think they are tired of making a new bubblenest everytime...hehe.

huh, mine make bubble nests right before it rains/snows. I think i read that it's because of the drop in air pressure...it's cool to have a trio of weather forecasters living in my bedroom ;D

Maybe mine builds nests when the sun comes out! It did break through for a minute or two the other day!

Merlin built his first nest last night/today, and I've only had him for a couple of days. Don't worry if you disturb it doing water changes or something- I broke up Merlin's this morning rearranging his live plants and he just built it right back in the same spot... a lot like people down here on the Gulf Coast!
