I know that the general feeling is that a one gallon tank is the smallest that you should keep a male betta in and that a 2 gallon is better. What would be the smallest tank that you would keep a female in as they seem to be more active?

I keep my female betta in a one and a half gallon tank with an airstone, one hidey hole and a 25 watt heater and she seems to be perfectly content. I have always been told to follow the same rule with the females as the males but I could have been hearing the wrong info all of these years.

Thanks for the reply. I was just curious and I have one female in a five gallon so I felt kind of bad for the female I have in a two gallon. I just got her last night and she already has me wrapped around her ventrels:)

Mine is in a two gallon critter keeper with a couple banana plants and some silk ones I nabbed from the boys (since they all have live ones). No heater yet, will likely get one sometime after taxes. Mine gets stressed very easily so I got her a container large enough to leave her in for the changes.

Here is my little girl in her tank. Since I took that picture I added a small piece of Java moss and took out the light green plant behind her. Notice that the tank matches her color ;D She is quite the diva

She is gorgeous and looks very happy in her color coordinated tank.
