I love my fish, and want to breed him with another fish of mine. I don't know, should i put the female and the male in the same tank? Can someone PM me and walk me through the steps?

I've attempted to spawn bettas 4 times so far and only had eggs twice: 1 batch of eggs actually hatched but didn't survive because the water level was too high, 2nd batch of eggs just "disappeared" (I think "someone" ate them grrr)
I have read a ton of info on spawning bettas and everyone seems to have different ideas/methods on how to get started.
A few common methods that I've noticed are these (in no particular order):
1. water level should be no higher then 3-6 inches in the spawning tank (this is to help the male get the eggs back into the bubble nest easier and to help the fry once they do become free swimming as they're not very strong yet)
2. you need to have some sort of food ready for fry even before you set up a spawning tank (infusoria, baby brine shrimp, boiled egg yolk, finely crumbled flaked betta food etc.)
3. both male and female need to be very healthy before they're introduced and you will most likely need to tend to their "wounds" when the spawning is over (spawning bettas can be very rough on each other so expect torn fins, etc. seperate hospital tanks for use after the spawning are advised so you can keep an eye on them in case they need medications to help them heal up)
4. some use a "gentle" foam filter or an airstone in the spawning tank while others don't
5. you'll have to be prepared to start seperating the baby bettas around 2-3 months of age. while you may be able to keep the females together the males will each have to have their own homes (you know how agressive those boys can be hehe)
6. you need to remove the female as soon as the spawning is completed while the male should be removed once the fry are free swimmers (about 2-3 days after hatching)
I found alot of info just by doing an advanced search (google for starters) using the term "breeding bettas"
Hope this helps you get started.
