When I got home from work today, I noticed something at the top of Horatio's tank that wasn't there this morning -- a whole line of large bubbles! Some are scattered across the top of the water, the others are lined up neatly along the front of the tank. I think it's a bubblenest! Isn't this a pretty good sign? I never would have thought I'd be seeing a bubblenest so soon.....we've only had the little guy a couple of weeks! sef

Yeah, that's a good sign. Bettas build bubblenests when thet're happy and healthy. Way to go Horatio.

Way to blow, Horatio! (And congrats, sef!)
I have a female that must think she's a male. She's been blowing bubbles (no nest, but nice lines all around the edge of her bowl) since we brought her home two weeks ago! : )

Hey Subo, That's great!!! You've had your girl about the same amount of time as we've had Horatio. Aren't Bettas just the coolest of fish? Is this your first? I just didn't expect to see an actual bubblenest so soon. When we first brought Horatio home from the petstore, his dorsal fin was clamped down tight and his color didn't look all that great. Then he gradually started to perk up, his fins became fuller and more beautiful this past week (I credit the aquarium salt that I added -- made a huge difference!), and he is really lively and full of mischief. (I love how he "begs" for food, too -- he looks directly at me, looks up at the spot where I drop in his pellets, and looks back at me intently like, "Well? " It's too hilarious). Anyway, congrats on the bubbles! Sounds like you have a healthy, happy little girl there! sef
