Today I lost my beautiful male Betta, Flame. He jumped through a 1 inch spot in the cover of his tank sometime yesterday. When I found him I put him back in his water with some extra Stress Coat, hoping he would come around. This morning he was still in horrible shape and looked like he might be suffering. I had to end his suffering this morning. I cried and cried. He was my 1st fish and my 1st Betta. He had such a wonderful personality and he will be greatly missed. I love you and I will miss you!

I am so sorry about Flame. What a tragic accident. You did your best to try and save him. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've read of a betta jumping out of his bowl. A very important reminder to everyone to keep a lid with small holes on the bowl/tank, and keep the water level down about two inches. Again, I am so sorry for Flame and for you.

SD,
I, too, am so sorry about Flame. Thoughts are with you...

Thanks to everyone for your support! I never thought I would get attached to a fish.
Bettas are wonderful fish and I am glad I got to make his life better while he was alive.
Warning to all--Bettas can escape out of even small uncovered areas on their tanks!

Sorry to hear about little Flame. They can be quite sneaky at times and unfortunately do love to jump..
