None of you know me, considering that I just signed up today. I have been looking around on this site for about the past week and never signed up because I thought you had to pay to do so. But, even if I had been able to post, I doubt it would have done a bit of difference for Sherbie. He died this afternoon of what I believe to be dropsy or a liquid filled tumor. I'm not quite sure what the difference is. Well, he appeared to be suffocating this morning and kept surfacing for air and then would fall backwards and hit the bottom. He had stopped eating last night. I actually called ALL the vets in my area asking for a refferal to an aquatic veterinarian, and of course everyone I spoke to seemed so suprised to hear that I was trying to save my betta fish. I felt terrible that nothing would help, because he depended on me for over a year, and was my first fish. I got something called BettaFix and was using that for 3 days before he died. Well, a lot of good that did. Although, THERE IS GOOD NEWS! I told my boyfriend that Sherbert died and he came over to visit, suprising me with a beautiful red and blue betta ;D I wasnt really sure if I wanted another betta right away, but seeing this one changed my mind! I'll hopefully post a picture soon

I'm so sorry to hear about poor Sherbert. What a great name you picked. Just remember, he had a great life with you for 1 whole year. So many are not so lucky. Good luck with your new betta. Keep this board in mind when any problems come up or you want to discuss anything, I've found a wealth of wonderful information and sense of community with this board. I've been a member for just a short while and it's been great
