Hi everyone, Late last week, I went to the pet store with my boyfriend to get my third betta, to put in my first betta's old bowl (since I moved him out of it and into a 3 gal). Since the old container isn't even quite a gallon, I decided to use it to house a sick little betta to revive. At the store, I felt ambitious and picked out the sickest red betta there - he was lying on his side on the bottom of his tiny bowl. To make his long story short, I was unable to help this poor little guy, and he died on Sunday. I think he may have had an advanced case of dropsy, which I was totally unable to cure. I guess I was too ambitious with this resue attempt. I adopted a much less sickly betta today, and named him Rupert 2 after his (possible) brother. He has a little white growth above his nose area, but he is able to swim around and eat. I think that this is more my level of curing fish. Goodbye, Rupert - you will be missed, regardless of the short amount of time you spent with us!

::hugs to lilstar:: i'm sure rupert appreciated your help. i wish i had a chance to meet him! just know there's one more little guy in the great rice paddy in the sky who's happier because of you! as for rupert 2's little white growth...does it look like wedge's? wedge has had a white spot near his "nose" for a few months now, it has not spread or changed shape, and he has no other symptoms of illness. i vaguely remember hearing it might be a sign of old age. anyone else know? anyway, good luck with the new guy, and i look forward to seeing him

lilstar,
Rupert was so much better off in your care than leaving this world (unnoticed) on some store shelf. I'm sorry he didn't make it.
I hope Rupert2 brings you much joy.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Rupert. Like Jedicat and BettaBGood mentioned, at least he had you to give him a chance and give him a peaceful place to pass.
Good luck to Rupert2!
