My oldest fish Midnight left us a few weeks ago. I think he died of old age, since he was in a lilly-vase setup as a gift from our neighbor over a year ago. The ammonia from the dead body poisoned his ghost shrimp Pal. Unfortuneately (sp?), many of my ghost shrimp have disappeared lately, so now I have one betta that gets along with his ghost shrimp, and two new bettas that I'm not sure about. Anyway, when I saw Midnight and Pal were dead, I started sobbing. I miss him so much, although I had figured that the end was near for him when he started slowing down and he became more fragile. I wish he had not died, but I can't change that now. Goodbye my finned friend... I am sorry to say that Angel left us as well. She was a sweet fish who had loads of energy, which in this case, wasn't a good thing. Since I have a filter that didn't come with my tank running in Angel's home, there is a teeny tiny gap in between the cover and the tank wall. Apparently Angel needed to see if she could get through it. I came into my room and found her, almost dead. I quickly put her back into the tank, but I saw she wasn't doing well. The next day, her back was covered in cottony fungus, and it was easy to see she had fin rot. I moved her to a spare container, tried to treat her with Tetracycline, and hoped for the best, but that didn't work. I found her dead the next morning. which ruined most of my day. It's so hard to believe she's dead; she is one of those fish you ALWAYS expect to be there, after a long day, waiting to be fed. Goodbye my litttle Angel baby.....
