Butterscotch, our fourth betta, lost his life to Velvet (I think) about 10 days ago. 
He was a little over 2yrs. old, and his color was exactly that of his name.
One of our sweetest bettas, we often thought he would be a great "lap betta," if such a thing was possible!
His home was in our kitchen and he was quite interactive - we really miss him. His tank wasn't disassembled right away & for a day or so, we would glance over, just waiting for him to playfully stick his head out from behind a plant!
GOODBYE, "SCOTCH!" You're missed, pal!
(On a brighter note, Butterscotch's "flaring buddy" & neighbor, Legolas, also a "blonde", had the exact same symptoms & we were able to save him.)
