We lost BigSis a couple of weeks ago after a short battle with dropsy. Over two years old, she was our oldest & biggest gal (red & blue w/a double tail). She was the alpha of our female tank, but was constantly challenged by the more youthful "whippersnippers." One fight, that I (fortunately) didn't witness, resulted in some infected chunks (not nips). Sis was always big, and when her belly began to swell I originally attributed her size to overeating (stealing the cories sinkers) and/or to eggs. We removed her from the tank to treat her injuries, but her swell soon pineconed. She fought hard for 5 days, thereafter, but didn't make it. Goodbye, BigSis. R.I.P.

Oh BettaBGood, I am so very sorry you lost BigSis! I didn't realize she had been ill. That is really awful. Knowing you, I know you did everything you possibly could to make her last days comfortable. RIP, BigSis. sef
