Marlin & Clay

Marlin was my first betta. I got him in October and he started my whole fish obsession. He survived all my newbie mistakes and the hot tub when the heater made his tank raise to 105 degrees. He wasn't his normal self on Friday, and he spent most of Saturday & Sunday just kind of floating. I don't know what was wrong with him, because aside from the floating, he looked fine. He passed away this afternoon.

Marlin on Friday

Clay was my second betta. When he was healthy, he was a gorgeous velvet red and had really pretty fins. Everyone that saw my bettas picked him as their favorite. He came down with fin rot in December and never really healed from that. Two weeks ago, he somehow got ick. I medicated him the best I could, but it obviously wasn't good enough. He also passed away today.

They will both be greatly missed

I'm so sorry for your double loss I've enjoyed reading your posts and I know how involved you were with Clay and Marlin as well as your other fish. It's always hard to lose them but especially hard to lose both at the same time. It's possible that Marlin was older than you thought - impossible to tell unless you get them from breeders. He was certainly a gorgeous guy.
Again, I'm truly sorry for your losses. They are no doubt already missed.

Marlin sure did have beautiful coloring and I am sure that Clay was as amazing as you've described him. I am sorry to hear that you lost them.

Spiff - I am saddened to read about your loss of both Marlin and Clay. I know they are greatly missed and I am sorry for your loss of their company.

Thanks, everybody...I'm just glad that I went home this weekend so I could at least see them one last time.
