Well, they're both gone. I got them at the same time, but Mac was at work and Chevelle at home. Chevelle's illness brought on her death, but Mac, unfortunately, was brought to his death too early by starvation. My heart wrenches every time I think about it. I went on vacation and asked my girlfriend at work to take care of Charlie, whom I brought from home, and Mac who was on my desk. She only remembered Charlie who was on her own desk, and didn't think about what I had asked. She fed Charlie every day and forgot about my beautiful Cambodian-style betta, the one who made me laugh, on my desk. Thankfully, she had someone take him out, so I returned to an empty tank (well, two - Inkspot had died a couple of weeks before I left and I didn't want to clean the tank). I am so sad. I have to say I'm happy she didn't replace him with "just some fish." Now I'm back to my Charlie alone again. I'm happy he's still around and feisty as usual. He'll keep me company while I work. I can say I will never let her watch any fish, and for that matter, my dog at home. I didn't think of *why* she didn't have animals, but she is kind and thoughtful... but animals are an afterthought, I know now. I'll only let people who love their animals as much as I love mine be their caretaker. Wish I could share a photo of Mac with you, but I don't have the patience. Thanks for reading. -nikki
