Terms of Use
These rules might seem a bit harsh, but as long as you respect other people, it’s easy to adhere to them and it helps the forum function smoothly. Some of the rules are specific to Healthybetta, and others are based on common forum etiquette, but they are equally important.
1. Please be respectful of others. All members of Healthy Betta come together for one purpose and that is to better the care of their bettas and other fish. Flaming and hate posts will not be tolerated and be aware that any debates that arise are under the watch and judgment of the forum staff, and they will intervene if necessary.
2. Only answer a question if you can provide useful information to the person asking the question. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, please let someone else handle a question. Posts which contain false or misleading information will be dealt with by the forum staff in an appropriate manner.
3. Don’t make “spam” posts. Spam posts are posts that add nothing to the discussion at hand, and don’t help anybody. Of course you are still free to do things like comment on someone’s beautiful fish or neat aquarium, or thank them for their advice – these are part of a normal discussion
4. Don't start new threads just for new questions -- try to keep things that go together in the same thread.
5. Please post your comments in the correct section. This will help your post be answered in a diligent manner, as well as save the moderators who volunteer their time a bit of work.
6. Please do not occupy too much of a moderator’s time. The forum moderators are knowledgeable members which have been given their status because of their knowledge and/or contributions to the forum. They volunteer their time to help answer questions related to fish and the forum, as well as keep the peace and help the forum run smoothly. Many moderators will gladly answer questions, but realize that they cannot give you exclusive attention.
7. And most importantly, enjoy yourself and have fun as part of our great betta community!
How to Register
Notice: As of June 15, 2006, we are no longer accepting new registrations as the forum is closed.
Registration for the Healthy Betta Forum is free. You can sign up to be a member through the "Register" link or icon at the top of the main page. You will need to choose a username and provide a valid e-mail address. Once you have completed the registration form, a confirmation number will be e-mailed to you. You will need to enter your confirmation number the first time you log in to the forum to activate your account.
You can change your password and user settings under the “Profile” icon near the top of the page. Add a signature, post your own avatar or anything you wish to personalize your account.
Do you have an AOL e-mail address?
If so, you may not receive your confirmation number. If this is the case, please try registering with a different e-mail address. Unfortunately the spam filter with AOL sometimes completely blocks messages from Proboards and there is no way for us to manually activate your account. There shouldn't be a problem with any free accounts such as yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc.
Always be sure to check your junk mail folder if you don't see the confirmation e-mail in your inbox.

By default when you register for the forum, your display name will be the same as your username. If you wish to change your posting name, simply change the “Name” field under the “Profile” icon at the top of the page.

By clicking on a member’s username or the small yellow icon beneath their avatar, you can send other members private messages. When you login, you can view your private messages at the top of the page or the bottom right-hand corner under the “Info Center.” Moderators can be contacted via private message for any forum related issues, but please post fish related questions directly on the forum.
