Well, today I could not bare to see my sick, suffering Goldie anymore. He has been incurabley sick for awhile and for the last 2 weeks he has been holding on like a trooper. I didn't have the guts to decapitate or freeze him, so I thought I would let nature take it's course. Well, it was getting to much for me to see Goldie gasping to breath and not to mention the fact that he was starving (hadn't ate for 2 weeks). So I scooped him up w/o a fight and put him in a paper towel then a plastic baggie and took him outside to the cement a smashed him w/ a big iron mallet. Then buried him in his own little box. I felt like I was shooting Old Yeller. I am sharing this w/ you guys because I know it is a very hard thing to have to do. I am such a softy chicken, too. Now Goldie is in a "Betta Place" and I can move on. R.I.P. Goldie

I'm so sorry, sixx I don't think I would have the guts to do what you did, but it certainly sounds like your betta was ready to go. I hope you find peace in knowing he's no longer suffering.
