I lost Cliph

I knew this would hurt, and I knew this was going to happen...I was prepared, or so I thought. Cliph was my first betta, and I have had him for almost a year. I have lost other bettas to various reasons over this year of betta keeping, but Cliph was my first...he has been through everything with me. HE lived in substandard conditions until I learned how to properly care for him and my other bettas, he lost a fin in a weird deco accident, he survived a bout of velvet and a turn with ick, and most recently he was on the losing end of the fight caused by the monster child.

He wasn't the same after that nightmare, and I knew he was not going to last forever, so yesterday I sat by his tank while he took his last breaths and cried so hard that any non-betta lover would think I had lost my mind.

Rest in peace Cliph, I have learned so much from you and I miss you more than I thought I would. You were so much more than a pet, you were a very special friend.

I know exactly how you feel, it really sucks losing a pet, fish or not fish. Actually cliph looks exactly like ralph, who passed away from dropsy. The worst is knowing that there is no hope and watching your little guy fly up for air, then just have no more energy and smash into the rocks... it's horrible..

I'm sorry for your loss, adopt another friend it helps, or in my case 3

teresa i am sooooo sorry for you. it sounds like you and cliph had a bunch of amazing times. i feel as if it was that kid you posted about putting your bettas in the same tanks fault. just remember he is somewhere were he can live in peace. bcroft is right. maybe buy another betta and give him the care you gave cliph and that might help you cope with your lose of cliph. once again im sooooo sorry to hear that cliph passed away.

Oh teresa, I'm so sorry for your loss I'm glad you were able to be with him.
And I'm glad you know that WE understand how much you loved him and how close you were

Oh Teresa, it just brings tears to my eyes to know that you lost your Cliph. I was hoping that he might of pulled out of that horrible incident. I am so sorry for your loss sweetie.
