I lost my new beautiful fish. When I left Thursday afternoon to go out of town he was fine and when I came back yesterday afternoon, he was at the bottom of the tank showing symptoms of columnaris (he had white stuff on the top of his head and was gasping for air). I tried to make him as comfortable as possible, but by this morning he only got worse and I knew that he would be gone before I could get the proper medicine for him. Well he took his last breath about an hour ago and then he was gone. Goodbye Big Jim you were a beauty. pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/accountingchick1/detail?.dir=/94b5&.dnm=ececscd.jpg&.src=ph&.tok=ph1So.DB_BOwOZJp

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that! Wow, these things can come up quick, I guess. It's rather nerve-wracking to me, being a new fish owner. Anyway, that's very sad. He was beautiful. Hugs...

I'm so sorry accountingchick They are so small and delicate, when an illness attacks. Not to sound morbid, but I'm glad he didn't linger. Sudden losses are hard on us, but I think easier on the fish. **Hugs** ~abm

Thank you guys for your condolences. It was tough to watch him struggle for air, but like you said abm, it is probably good that he did not suffer for a long period of time. I am going to adopt again very soon, and hopefully with better results.
