I came up last night to find Dude laying on the bottom under the heater, with his gills all the way out and not moving. His tumor finally got the better of him; it had grown alot in the last week or so, and the day before he had started pineconing on that side, so I knew it wouldn't be too long. Atleast he's not suffering anymore. 
I had him over a year and a half, that's the longest I've ever had a fish so far.

He was a really nice looking betta. At least he lived a nice long life. Hopefully you can get yourself to adopt another one. That is exactly how Ralph died, saw his sides pineconing and a few hours later he was gone
