My dear Dragonflame died today *Sob*. He was a lovely flame red guy with huge, graceful fins. He would flare at us when we came in. He was king of the kitchen! We went to feed him this morning and his tank was empty. We all started to freak out! We checked the filter, heater, gravel and even the shrimp! How could a fish dissapear from a tank?! But then, we saw something behind the cabinet and we looked at what it was and it was him! Now, we had him in a little 2.5 gal mini-bow tank. The only place he could have jumped out would have been a very small space by the heater and filter in the back. I would tell anyone, be sure to cover even the smallest spaces with some plastic canvas or screen. You never know. Even though it seemed like a 'full' hood, there was just that inch he needed. Poor baby.

My goodness, hellann, what a shocking loss for you . You're right, though, hopefully someone here will learn from your experience and prevent another betta from escaping. *Hugs* ~abm

thanks for replying! We are geting over the loss. We moved one of our females into it (we covered it with some plastic canvas). We also found out she was the one killing our ghost shrimp.
