So i got home from school and my mom told me that she couldn't find Kingsley. He jumped out of his tank...i don't know when. I fed him this morning at 6:30, as usual...i found him on the floor under the desk where his tank is. I feel so awful about this. I was planning to put a cover on his tank but i never got around to it . And on top of that I trained him to jump for his food...it was really cool, he was good at it . I wonder if he was just jumping for something over his tank and he fell out or if he jumped out on purpose. He wasn't the brightest of my fish...but i loved him. He was only about a year and a half old too (i got him last August). I'll miss you Kingsley Let this be a lesson to everyone: PUT A COVER ON YOUR FISH TANK.

Sorry to hear that Kingsley has gone to the big fish tank in the sky. First time I had a betta jump to its death I rushed out and bought lots of sheets of the plastic craft mesh and covered everybody up.

I'm so sorry for your loss . Another quick fix to cover a tank is a hair net...also, if you buy the 2-3 gallon size ("medium") Kritter Keepers to use as tanks, they come with lids.

Yeah, i had some plastic craft mesh which i was going to use for a different project (which I also never got around to...) so now i'm using that to cover my young, frisky Fire Flick's tank. I'm not too worried about Blues jumping-he's old and BIG (like 2 inches long w/out the tail) and can barely stick his head out of the water. OY. guilty time. poor kingsley. Thanks for the sympathy. The worst part about this (well second worst after kingsley dying in the first place) is that i lost my Jazz to cancer only a month ago! So now i'm down to 2 bettas again...
