Beautiful fish! I really like steel blue, gorgeous color. Tovi's very pretty too. If Trumpet has crowntail genes, if you bred him to a crowntail female, you would probably get some crowntails but probably not all CT. Makes sense to me though I'm no expert lol.

Thanx! I had always wanted a steel blue crowntail. I almost got a pure periwinkle betta then I noticed Trumpet and just couldn't resist! I don't plan on breeding them in the near future because I've yet to find a female CT. My Petco tends not to even keep females... it was just a fluke that they were there when I was looking into buying an otto. And Tovi was so beat up and scared that I couldn't resist. She's my first rescue... I thought she had fin rot and hardly had any fins. She didn't have rot, but DID have ich. Which she gave to Merlyn once I put her in the divided tank. He didn't live through it but Tovi did. She's grown SO much since got her and her fins are beautiful! I have a pic of when I first got her. I'll post that one too.

Okay, this pic doesn't show Tovi's colors well, but it shows what her fins were like almost a week after I bought her.

Wow, what an improvement! Tovi looks very healthy and happy now, she is so lucky to have found you.
Every time I go into a store like Walmart or Petco, I wish I could rescue all of those poor bettas. It makes me so sad to see them being neglected. A little TLC and clean fresh water is what they need but uninformed people are usually who are taking care of them. I have a pretty red guy named Gimli that I rescued from Walmart a few weeks ago, he has a gallon to himself now and is a happy little guy. I wanted to take home a few more but my hubby didn't go for that idea lol.
Keep your eyes open, you never know, you may find a CT female, once in a while I see them in the pet stores. LFS are usually a better place to look. Plus, breeding is a LOT of work. Especially if your spawn produces hundreds of babies and when they start growing and you have to seperate them, you then have hundreds of jars to clean! lol

lol yeah. Problem is I haven't found a LFS. I found a smaller pet store that was mainly fishies... but then i saw their bettas. Poor little guys! They all looked so sad and sick. they just sat in their cups. Plus the store had dead and sick fish in most of their tanks. It was awful! I'll keep a lookout tho!

Aww, I remember seeing a few of them on the old board, but they're still as cute as can be! What an improvement in Tovi's fins. How wonderful!
They're all so gorgeous! I just love blue coloring on bettas. ;D
