Cool! SoSuMi made this a while back: Actually, he makes one every week, at least this big, often bigger. Huge. You can't tell from the picture, but that lilly pad is lifted about a cm out of the water! Here's that same nest, from below: They make me so happy when I see bubblenests, especially those that big! Can you believe he built that mostly in just one day? It sticks about 1/2 an inch out of the water!*sorry about the dirty tank* Something must have really gotten into him that day because they're usually not that puffy! He's been maintaining it like crazy ever since too.. AmberD - thanks for posting SoSuMi! What a beautiful little guy with his amazing nest!

Mine always seem to build a lot bigger nests when there are floating plants or something similar at the surface. They like having something like that to attach the bubbles to.
Awesome nests!

I am mst impressed by the flare on that guy, Goliath indeed! Wow, what a fish.
Just posing a question, what was the weather like the few days prior to this incredible nest building feat? In the wild bettas tend to breed after storms. Even in aquariums indoors, they are still able to pick up on things like dropping atmospheric pressure and things like that. When we get a soaking around here, next day all my males have bubbles going like crazy.

I had never heard of that before, but it makes perfect sense. It has been storming quite a bit lately and my guys have been making huge nests like crazy. Thanks for the info!

Lol, Sumi just builds one constantly. I change his water, the next morning he has a new nest. It often gets bigger as the week goes on Amber
