Poor little Ixi, here is what she looks like after her fiasco in the female tank. I know she looks terrible, but she really is doing better.  And here is the bully. I forgot her name, I'll have to ask my stepdaughter. I just call her Butch LOL.   |

Poor Ixi  ! Glad to hear she's doing ok, though. LOL! "Butch" is even glaring at the camera, like, "You want a piece of me?!"  |

I'd hate to run into Butch late at night in a dark alley.  Poor little Ixi does look a little beat-up, but nothing that won't mend with some time and TLC. Her colors are so pretty! sef |

LOL! She does kind of look like she is daring us to mess with her. She is a feisty little thing too. When I took her out of the big tank and put her in the little beanie box for her pic, she was spastic! They are both holding their tails kind of clamped in these pics, but they only were doing that because I juggled them around for pics. Even poor little tattered Ixi isn't staying clamped like that all of the time.
Question for anyone who might know. Butch has a weird extra fin type thing right behind her ventrals, you can see it in the second pic. What is that? I've never seen another betta with that and she has always had it....weird!

I am not sure I can see what you are talking about. But even if Icould, I wouldn't know what it is.
Wow, what an impressive crowntail on Butch. A lot of pics of females I have seen don't show more than little prickles. She's a beauty.
Poor little Ixi, all ragged and beat up looking. It's like "Night of the Living Dead Fish" I hope she heals up soon. Good Luck

Thanks Rainbow, I think she's pretty too even if she is a little snot, LOL. Ixi has nice rays like that too, at least she did before Butch decided to eat them!

In the picture of Ixi, it looks like she may be swollen with eggs. If this is the case, that may be why she was attacked so badly. Sometimes one female will attack a female that is full of eggs so she will drop them and she can eat them.

Thank goodnes, Ixi is almost totally healed, her fins are growing back beautifully. Gimli had a five gallon tank all to himself but kept having problems with shredding fins (medicate, fins grow back, shred again, uggg). I decided to give him a two gallon bowl, he seems to do better with still water, and divided the 5 gallon for Ixi and her sister Butch the bully. Peace has been restored LOL! ;D  |

Yes mickey, she's doing great. That's her on the left side of the picture above. Now that there is a divider between the two, she feels brave and keeps flaring at Butch when she sees her, LOL.
