FINALLY! After almost two fishless months... here's my new guy Morty! Here he is when he looks green him camping out in his cave I'm still trying to get some GOOD pics of him. He's really not totally green. That's just the stupid flash on my camera.

I'm sure it's great to have a betta again!! Welcome home Morty! He's beautiful! I too, have a thing for the green ones. I have never been able to find one in my area either.

Really? Wow... Petco had basically a whole shelf full. Probably all from the same breeder.... they were all about his size and similarly colored. Morty's coloring really IS gorgeous... he has a mainly green body that tapers into blue about halfway through the fins... but he can look one color or the other depending on where the light hits him. He's settled in great, too! He's got a HUGE bubblenest going plus he's decided to eat today. I think I'll have to crush his betta bites cuz he was having problems with a small one. I treated him to a couple freeze dried bloodworms after he managed to tackle the thing lol. The only thing is he's been breathing pretty quickly... is that ok? I've read here about people with bettas where one labryinth doesn't go out when they flare... When Morty breathes normally, it doesn't go out on the side at all like my other bettas... just the bottom. Is this odd, or am I just being paranoid since I've been bettaless for so long? Other than that he looks perfectly healthy... and cute! lol I'll get more pics when he stops being afraid of the camera lol

He's very pretty, congrats!
If you are worried about his breathing, you could put him into some Bettamax for a week or two. I do this with all new bettas, especially the guys I buy from pet stores who were living in itty bitty cups.
Good luck with your new buddy!

Well, Morty decided that he'd like to flare at the mirror. I was right about the labyrinth. It doesn't come out totally on his right side. His breathing is a bit faster than usual but I think I'm just paranoid... cuz he's acting great... big bubblenests, chowing down on food... he doesn't run from my finger or face anymore either lol.

Ok, that's the best pic I can get of him. He's really a lot brighter... but the camera doesn't like me and Morty doesn't like the camera lol.
