Hi all, Well, maybe it's time to show you what my little fish and the two tanks I have look like First off, Nano - this was taken a few months ago, back before his finrot: He looked like this on the 4th (a bit blurry, my hand was shakey and he never stays still ): This is his tank (although since I set it up after the finrot, and he still hasn't fully recovered, he's only ever spent one night in it); it's a 16L (4 gallon?) glass tank. Please excuse the snail with his zucchini The ambulia on the right used to be a lovely thick stand, but I had a massive outbreak of BGA followed by a 4-5 day blackout, then a very hungry snail, so it's looking pretty poor now. And last but not least, the 12L tank I set up in our foyer a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping to plant it up a bit more and find a pair or trio of sparkling gouramis to go in there. Currently it has two or three java ferns and a baby ramshorn snail. So there you go

Great tanks!!! - and nice pics Thanks I'm just curious by the way; what's the temperature in these tanks? In the 16L tank it's currently... *checks thermometer*... 27C (80F); I don't have a heater in either tank right now. It'll probably get hotter later (it's only 9am here at the moment). I'm asking because you have one plant (third pic) that can never grow in my tanks and I've been told that it's because the water is too warm for them. That's the high ones, on the left (behind the snail) and also on the right (cabomba or something like that I guess you're talking about the ugly plant? It's just elodea (oxygen weed, Egeria sp.); I bought some when I had my BGA outbreak (it's meant to have a natural antibiotic). According to Tropica ( www.tropica.com/productcard_1.asp?id=058), Egeria densa likes 10-26C... but when it comes to plants, I like to try species even if someone says they're not going to work, cause you never know. Most of the elodea in there seems to be growing just fine, even though it's higher than 26C.

Great tanks, Estel! Nano's handsome, too. He and my Bowie could be twin sons of different mothers...
