"Whassat?" You can see where he hurt himself hopping out of his temp. water change bowl here (little dark spot by the dorsal fin). Before I'd put the lid back on the bowl . If you spot anything unhealthy like, let me know - I'm a n00b so, I might not be seeing things I should . -Flash

from the pics, he looks pretty good. How is that spot doing from his jumping mishap?

It was one week ago tomorrow, and it's still the same. He seems fine though, so sign of fungus or rot, touch wood. How long should I leave him before looking for some external help, do you think? -Flash

If the spot isn't worsening, I would let it heal up on its own. I am assuming that all else is well with him - am I right? eating normally, acting normally etc. If so, I wouldn't do anything other than keep an eye on him.

The spot remains the same He's a fussy eater, though. Always has been. He still gobbles up bloodworms like some sort of lawnmower, though, so I'm assuming he's just spoiled and snooty . He's fasting for a few days to see if that'll bring him around. Today is water-change day, so I left some Daphnia in his bowl this morning. If it's gone when I get in... I'll be happy . -Flash

I am glad that all else is well with Ming. It sounds like he is a bit snooty about his food. Damage can take a bit of time to repair (one of my boys still has a misshapened tailfin from an injury months ago.) It is important to watch to make sure the injured area heals and does not become a spot for other illnesses to take hold.

;D How true! Perhaps he will insist you upgrade his tank to crystal with diamonds and rubies for gravel.

Actually, he has in a way XD. The new fish has a slightly larger tank, and even though he can't SEE he seems to know... Or possibly, I've just got serious guilt issues >.<. He'll probably get a new one in a few weeks, since he's sapped my bank balance to nil already...
