well, if they aren't true giants, then they're certainly the largest bettas i've ever seen! i stopped at the pet store on the way home from work to get some biospira, and of course had to at least glance at the tanks. sooooo many gorgeous cts and vts, but i managed to resist. then, on the way out the door, i spotted a flash of something green in a dimly lit tank. looked like a HUGE plakat...and it was a HUGE plakat! the label said "short tail betta $7.99." i got rather excited as the employee fished him out for me, until i noticed an even bigger plakat in the tank next door. as she fished that one out so i could compare, i noticed a third ginormous plakat in another tank just above the first two. that one appeared slightly smaller, so i left him be. i got both of the big ones, i'd estimate them to be about 4 inches and 3.75 inches. for size reference: regular size plakat: giant in same tank:

They look great! Man, New Jersey sure is wonderful, ain't it? Which store is this you go to again? The mom-and-pop one that asks you for help?

I am in love with the blue/red one. You have got to stop posting pictures of all these beautiful fish. It makes me want to go out and buy another betta, and my fiancee would kill me if I did that.

oh man! I never see specimans like that around here all I ever see is veils, though I did see 2 crowntails in one store but I had a ton of stuff to do and couldn't buy them and when I went back they were gone I wish I lived where you do...though I doubt I would find better species, you get them all first lol People must spend hours admiring your fish room!
