Well well well, I finally bought my first "real" tank today It's a 29 gallon with a stand, I got it from someone who just wanted it gone. Stand, cover, light, decorations, tank.... everything for $50 I will post pictures once I get all the water inside, I'm waiting for my hot water to regain its energy right now

NICE!!! that's a good deal for a 29g. I really like mine...tho i wish i had room/$ for a 55...a 29 is a good 'big' tank to start with.

Ooh, nice! ;D So what's the plan for stocking this one? Did you swap your Aquaclear or did it come with the filter too?

It came with an older filter and I didnt want to take any chances with it, so I'm using the aquaclear for now until my next paycheck, then I'll get a nice biowheel 150 Stocking will start shortly, i found bio spira on sale for 13.99 at my LPS, so I'm going to give that a try pretty soon

ya your female livebearers should always outnumber your males...keeps them from, er, birthing-to-death.
You may want to reconsider that Clown Loach...1 gets too big for a 29g and they really are happier and out more if they are in a group. If you want loaches for your 29, consider Zebra Loaches...they stay smaller and are much more 'outgoing' than clowns.
As much as 'taking a fish back when it goets too big' sounds like a good way to go...its really not. You are forcing a larger animal to live in a too-small space...then, without the fish being able to tell you when he needs to move, making an arbitrary decision on when the fish is 'too big'...plus, once he gets back to the store, you are condeming him to live in a teeny-er tank until someone who has a big enough tank for him to live in at that size hopefully comes along...and many pet stores often euthanize large fish, just cause they know there are not enough people out there to take care of them. Personally, I think its a better idea to buy fish that fit in the tank you have.

another thing...I'm surprised your snail is still alive with that loach...Snails are the preferred meal of loaches...especially clowns...they will not cohabitate in the same tank...even bigger snails. My zebras made short work of a golfball size snail...your loach will just harras him until he can get in the shell, or the snail dies from the stress.
