Yes, there is such a thing. Some were selectively bred that way, while others are just the result of hormones + overfeeding. They're not common knowledge among most new fish hobbyists though, but they're fairly well known inside the betta breeding community.

oh wow!  im glad i found that out now cuz i that betta is realy cute!... big but cuute! how would they breed? would the genes be transferd and the young be the same? would they turn out to be giant bettas too or at least some of them will? |

I don't do betta genetics. There's another forum where I know people who could answer that question. I won't post it here though, so if you want to know, PM me.

thanks realy amanichen  im not into betta genetics either but i was just woundering thats all cuz iv never seen them here and they look realy intresting! i saw a tank with a paradise fish in it and i loved it then i see this big guy and WOW! thanks |

Sorry, a little off topic here but isn't it frowned upon to sell live animals via Ebay? I think I saw like a petition or boycott on it a few moths ago.

Sorry, a little off topic here but isn't it frowned upon to sell live animals via Ebay? I think I saw like a petition or boycott on it a few moths ago. There used to be an issue with it, but eBay allows fish sales at this point. I haven't heard about petitions against it recently, but I'm sure there probably are some. Personally I would stick more towards Aquabid for fish though.  |
