For all those who are familiar with the mail-order catalog, Solutions, I would like to let you know that they are selling a product in their current catalog that is not Betta friendly. They are advertising a wall-mounted 3-quart aquarium and the picture displayed shows the item containing a Betta. Their website is www.solutionscatalog.com. The product item # is 68671

It does amaze me what cruel things humans will think of for other beings to have to live through! And that betta looks like a little beauty doesn't he.

Thats about 3 litres isnt it? just under a gallon. not as bad as it COULD be.
Still to small but if it was atleast a gallon it wouldnt be that bad. I still wouldn't get it but atleast its not that friggin' purse/bowl idea on saw awhile ago..

Thats about 3 litres isnt it? just under a gallon. not as bad as it COULD be. Three quarts is 3/4 of a gallon. Yes, it is that bad. Picking the lesser of two evils doesn't make either of them good. Even if it's not a shot glass, it's certainly not something that should be sold or "encouraged" as a proper betta enclosure.

I am sticking with my opinion that 3/4 of a gallon is not torture.
Thank you.
Don't be so negative. You didn't comment on my "Still to small but if it was atleast a gallon it wouldnt be that bad."
Thanks again.

I am sticking with my opinion that 3/4 of a gallon is not torture. While you are entitled to your own opinion you must realize that this is not a matter of opinion. I feel you need more experience before evaluating such a product. All I'm saying is: The product linked to above shouldn't be advertised as a habitat for a betta. 3/4 of a gallon is too small for a single betta. There is not much swimming room, and the bowl will need very frequent water changes to try to keep the water quality stable (more chemicals in less water = poorer water quality.) There's also no way to keep it warm (try heating a small, oddly-shaped bowl that hangs from a wall.)

I received a rather bland response from the catalog with a promise that they would "further review" uses of this product. I encourage anyone who feels like this is not a good product to contact the company. I don't believe it is a guarantee that they would remove the product, but many voices are louder than one.

3/4 of a gallon is as much or more than many betta keepers I know keep, including local breeders. I have many problems with this tank, but the size isn't one of them.
1. Having a tank hanging on the wall is going to make it hard to clean. How easy is it to get down? 3/4 gallons is too little if the water isn't kept clean. Any amount of water is wrong if it is dirty.
2. HOW LIKELY IS THIS TO FALL OFF??!!! I have this horrible image in my head of that thing coming crashing down with a smash and a splash. I realize that it is just a matter of "hanging it right" to keep it up, but how many people would take the time to get out the stud finder, or go buy one if they didn't already have it?
3. That back looks reflective. I know flaring once in a while is good for a betta, but having your reflection there 24 / 7 is another matter.
Don't these people have better things to do with their time than to come up with new "hip" ways to hold water and a fish?

I emailed them my complaint. I agree with you, crowntale. It could easily fall off, and it must be hard to get it down. It's way too small for the poor betta to be happy and healthy.

6 cups is 1 1/2 quarts. There are 4 quarts in a gallon, so that would make this... 3/8ths of a gallon. (I think that's right!)
