Hi, I'm Debra. I'm so happy to have found Healthy Betta. From what I've seen most fish diseases and problems can be prevented with proper care. I am a new Betta owner. I had an empty Eclipse 3 given that was given to us, so after some research, I decided to rescue a Betta from a little cup at the LFS. My husband and I also have 75 gallon and 10 gallon community tanks. (Soon the contents of the 10 will be transfered to a bigger tank and the 10 will become our hospital/quarentine tank.) I've modified the Eclipse by adding a very easy to make baffle to the filter exhaust. Here's a link to how to make one. www.petfish.net/articles/Do-It-Yourself/currentkill.php It will work on any many different filters and is so simple. I am so excited about this, that I'm posting the link everywhere I can! I've also added artificial and live plants, one of which is tall enough to create a bit of a canopy at the top of the water, fine gravel, and a heater. I feed him Hikari pellets (2, 2 times a day) and about twice a week I substitute a feeding with blood worms. He is BEAUTIFUL! His color has intensified since I've brought him home. He is curious, active, and has a good appetite. The tank is still cycling, so I do frequent partial water changes. I seeded the tank from our 10 gallon, so hopefully this will speed the process. So far this fish is the my favorite of all of our fishes. I've got to learn how to take a good picture of him. Any hints? Debra

Hello, my name is Jenn, and I love fish, so much that I'm going to become an ichthyologist and dive with sharks ;D(hopefully). This doesn't really matter but I listen to hard rock and metal, play video games alot, and watch movies like blade II, devils rejects, dead life, etc. I hope to meet some cool people on this site also.

Hello Everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself as I've been reading the forums here for the past three weeks. My name is Angelina and I'm a new Betta owner. I bought Gimli 3 weeks ago from our LPS for my 4-year-old son (and truthfully for myself, too), and we love him. Healthy Betta has been a wonderful resource and I'm so glad to have found this site! Gimli has had some problems from the beginning, and it's only through the information I've found here that I've really been able to properly care for him. Thank you all for sharing your experience and knowledge through this website.

greatings Healthy betta, and rachel ^^.
I'm 18 years old, born in august and I've been a betta owner for almost a year now. I've really loved bettas since I was 8 but I was not alowed to get them cause of the matenance and the land lords not really likeing the idea of any animals, we hid many but there isint really a place you could hide a five gal.
So I have waited a long time and I'v grown to love them with effection insted of just there exotic beauty. In doing so I took care of a betta I rescued from the pet store, he had everything from ick to tailrot and we never really found out how to get the right meds cause of the money we had at the time, he did live from august 06 2005 to december 10th2005 but I believe he died from stress related illness due to being moved from his aquarium.
However a month ago, I chose it was time to get another betta and he's still with me today, abit of tailrot cause he is another rescue, but I love him dearly and call him by the name of Lazren. He's red with blue vained stripes going threw his tail and a black maroon crown from the top of his lip to his first fin.
I'm also a artist and I draw them any chance I get, hope to post some of my work for your enjoyment and I really want to know more betta owners, I'm already in a guppy forum though cause I have 7 guppies. And I plan to Devide the aquarium into tghree areas so that a 2 gallon area will be for Lazeren, 4 gallon room for male guppies , and a four gallon room for females* so I dont end up kulling fish anytime soon with Stoping the breeding ranks indefenetly.
My sister wants on the computer, but I will make some posts tomorrow about him and both my bettas pictures.
Btw, I really love those jokes back at the site XD SPECIALY the Captains log, My betta always looks like that every time I change the water and rearange plant matter.

Hi there.
My name is Brian a Betta breeder from Manila, Philippines. I have a small Betta farm and concentrates on Fighter Plakats though I also breed HMs, SDs, CTs and HMPKs.
I know all of you here are Betta lovers and you don't fight them like we do in South East Asia. Don't worry I'm not encouraging anyone to fight their lovely pets and I'm here to learn/share knowledge among the members of this forum.
Brian
