GO GET GAS!!! right now! Seriously, fill up any tank you have and any cans you have (if you have them). We just got insider info on gas from a gas station supplier...it WILL be near $4 by tomorrow...plus with the continuation of the flooding in New Orleans (the levees are breaking) there is a good chance there will be gas shortages...we are already out of regular here and the midgrade pumps are running slow.

Thanks for the tip! I've been hearing the same thing all day that prices are expected to shoot up very soon. I know a lot of people in my area went to get gas during their lunch hour.

Thanks for the tip twoluvcats. Not to brag or anything, but Wyoming has some of the lowest gas prices in the nation, and for that I am thankful. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Gas prices are regional...where I go to college (in the middle of nowhere) gas is $0.30 cheaper than in the Baltimore-Washington area (where I'm from.) That's because the people in Southeastern Virginia aren't as rich as people in Northern Virginia and Central Maryland, and can't afford to pay $2.80 a gallon. I'd expect that Wyoming has a similar "advantage" =)

I was told that the reason why our prices were so low was because we do not have as big of a demand as some areas (but I don't know if that is correct or not because it was a friend who told me that). The population of the whole state is a little under 500,000. I live in Sheridan Wyoming, which has alot of rich ranchers and alot of upper class who live in the area and have caused the cost of living here to skyrocket so I don't know if it is the townsfolk who are keeping the gas prices down. I do know that the rich people of the town haven't helped me find affordable housing around here.

Didn't think that it would have an effect on Canada but it did. Gas prices went up by $0.20 in some areas (really dreading to see what the local gas price is around here; before the storm it was already $1.10-$1.15 per litre Canadian ).

In Atlanta we've historically had lower than average gas prices...yesterday they were around $2.50/gallon for regular....today it jumped to over $3 in many places, and I heard of over $5 (but didn't see it myself). We also apparently were the victims of a rumor (probably started at my son's middle school ) that there was NO GAS and the stations were closing at 4pm today - this of course created a panic and there were gas lines around the block, just like in the 70's. Not really happy memories.

We topped out at $3.59 here...but we are right on the I-70 corridor, so the prices kinda have to stay 'down'...I never was up there to see, but I'm sure Aspen was at $4 or higher for a week or so.
