Please forgive me if I did not include your color choice.

Funny thing is, I have 5 bettas - 4 indigo blue (or variants), one turquoise and one red...so I had to vote with the majority Why is no one voting? Actually, I should vote once for each color - hard to decide when they are all such gorgeous creatures

I know what you mean about trying to decide. I have as yet to get a Betta that I liked for his color as they have all been rescues. It sounds like you have some very beautiful guys living with you. I hope more people vote, but pehaps it is just too hard to pick!

ALL of mine were rescued in some manner...Pentecost (red) from a lily-vase arrangement on a coworkers desk, and the others from various Walmarts - selected b/c of their feistiness in the face of minimal stimulation and one (MightyMan) b/c his huge long fins were literally sticking out of his less than 3/4" of water. (And his bubblenest beats them all these days! ) Quigon was whitish/opaque-ish/multi-ish - very mixed but we only had him about a month So yeah - blue mainly b/c that's what I have the most of, and it's always been my favorite color. I'd love to see/have a green one!

Actually, although I'm sure some folks select bettas for color and other features, I'm the one who always gets the dog from the pound (or the baseball field ) , the cat from the elderly neighbor, and the betta when I accidentally wandered down the wrong aisle in Walmart and burst into tears! My guys ARE all beautiful, as are yours and everyone else's. Just like children - they all have wonderful features and qualities.

My pet selections seem to run in the same vein as yours. The abandoned dogs (3) and cats (many) in the yard, on the roadside, or at the Animal Shelter. The frustrating WalMart situation. You are right, no matter how they come to us, all pets are beautiful and wonderful.

Heh, I've managed to break myself of the betta-rescue habit, if only because I simply can't take on any more (well, now that I caved again and bought Titania, a GORGEOUS pale bodied-turquoise-and-pink-finned female) but I should never be allowed in animal shelters. My last dog, Toby, was from the shelter, and when he died unexpectedly I got Molly from the shelter, and all three of our barn cats were strays. And my latest goldfish, Ol' One-Eye, was at Meijer's for four weeks (the fish lady said he was her little friend) before I decided no one else would buy a one-eyed fish.
I voted for multicolored--I'm not knowledgeble enough about colors to define beyond the basics, but some of my prettiest are Mercury (a silver body with pale to dark blue fins), Gus (amberish body with red, white and blue fins) and Titania (see above.) Not that Haku (solid red), Bert (indigo blue), Cookie (blue) and Grover (turquoise fins, pinkish body) aren't pretty, too. In fact of all of them, probably the best-looking overall B. splendens specimen is Haku. (Unless you're going for sheer fin length, in which case Mercury.) But in terms of color I like interesting.

I'm just a softie, but it seems that each new betta I get, becomes my favorite for a time in every way - color, demeanor, etc. I got a new shelf for the corner of my bedroom today, to properly (and safely) display my guys - and with the uncluttered background, I've been noticing how beautiful Anakin is - he's turquoise blue with red tips on his fins So now I guess I need to go re-vote for turquoise!...umm, it won't let me re-vote???

We are just a bunch of soft-hearted persons! I always seem to find at least one thing about all of our pets that I absolutely love.
