I've been asked about my avatar many times, most recently, this morning. I thought I'd fill ya'll in. My username is ACKislander, where ACK are the call letters for the Nantucket Island airport. Together they form Nantucket Islander. That's where I grew up. My avatar is a silhouetted map of Nantucket Island. Many... MANY people have told me they thought it was a bra or a bikini top... or even an ink blot. I thought that was funny, so I kept it. I guess in a way it IS an ink blot. What you see says a lot about you. I guess most people subconsciously wish they were on the beach. (bikini) I know I do. Anyone else have a story for their user name... or avatar?  |

ok i get it now! i thought also thought it was a crumpled bra or something  my avatar is a mermaid and i am obsessed with mermaids! i collect anything mermaid or with mermaids on it (even my dish set has mermaids ;D |

I thought it was an angel fish lol.
lihairden....all the other nics I liked were taken. I looked through a book by Mercedes Lackey and liked what it meant 'deer footed'.
I tried to have an avatar of my dragon tattoo, but it didn't seem to want to work. I'm using the red thing until I get some pics scanned of the bettas together (tanks anyway) and I'll use that.

My nick name is one I created when I was 14. It is a combination of three names that I thought once clumped together sounded pretty. Jay, Jade, and Rana. They all have meanings but I have long since forgot what they are. It stuck because it is so original that it is guaranteed to be free everywhere I go.

oh, sihouette of a map -- heh. i thought it was a t-bone steak...don't ask why.
the betta in my avatar is my favorite little guy out of 8. his name is taxation without representation--sometimes refered to as taxi. he's a spectacular little combtail i rescued from the petshop last christmas.
and my uh, username..god, i have no idea.
EDIT: actually, wait. the "towel" bit of my username was inspired by the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, one of my favorite books of all time. and i have no idea where "pants" came from.

My user name is because i love the word spiffy and my e-mail is spiffalicious, so I just shortened it to spiff for message boards.
My icon is one of my bettas, Majestic. I am probably going to change it soon since I've gotten 12 new bettas since I took the picture.
