Betta Confession Line...tell me the truth

Do you have a special betta that you really love? Is it his personality or is it his looks? Did you ever want to kiss him/her? Do you ever talk to your betta?

While it might not be such a good idea to tell our s/o's or friends our true feelings about our bettas...you can do it here on the Betta Confession Line and nobody will know.

Betta Confession...
The pic under my s/n is my favorite royal blue and white bf...Big Star. Incidentally Starlight is a very dark navy blue metallic color. Star spends his waking day posing/flaring and swimming to get my attention. Once he captures my attention; he'll show-off to convince me how handsome he is. He'll flare at anything and he loves mirrors. If I make believe I'm holding a mirror, he'll flare at the make believe mirror. He flares at my finger and I've seen him flare while chasing food. Show him a female and he attacks the container with such ferocity that it makes a sound that you can actually hear.

Star's a big half-moon with a 180-degree tail, large dorsal and anal fins. His fins must be quite heavy. Sometimes I find him completely prone on the bottom of his tank with all fins extended. I prefer he sleeps on the Java Ferns lol. The first time I saw this I said OMG!

No matter how sleepy Star is, I can't "sneak" up on him. He always seems to manage to get a glimpse of me in the reflection in his tank. It's almost as if he's waiting for me. In a second, he's up and wide awake.
He's always ready to show me how handsome and strong he is.

Sometimes I'll tell Big Star how handsome and strong he is but I don't think he understands...he just flares and poses and tries to convince me all over again.

I confess. When my bettas wiggle their fins at me... Sometimes I wiggle back. I don't know if my neighbors can see me or not. But, I can live with it I guess.

I love both of them for different reasons. Bubba's laid back and hops when you take too long feeding him. He always wants to dance and sits on his rocks.

Simon's got more of an attitude. He got mad at me the other week and belly-flopped on his plant which caused water to splash all over my face. He'll look at me when I'm sitting on the couch. He sleeps on the plant..sometimes you can't find him cause he wriggles right in.

I do confess to talking to them, singing to them, waving from the couch, dancing with them, playing with them. And I would be so happy if I could pick them up and hug them. I have to settle with hugging the tanks lol.

That was an excellent confession!

I wish other members participated in the Betta Confession Line. Perhaps they are too busy monitoring their PH and Ammo levels to take the time to post their confessions? Others may be on perma-guard for fin rot; examining their bettas' fins every 30 seconds under a magnifying glass? Some may be perusing aquatic supply catalogues wondering whether to get Maracyn Plus, JFE or Kanacyn.

As a relatively new member of HB, I enjoy posting betta health questions. I try to answer member's questions when I think I can help. Still, sometimes it's important to discuss why we love these little fish.
Imo, it's not just about what medication to use or how much to dose. It goes way beyond that.

I know one thing, despite how close our friends and s/o's are to us; they'll never understand the bond between betta and owner. Telling them your true feelings won't help clarify matters either.

You can discuss your true feelings on the Betta Confession line and nobody will ever know!

I Confess:

I've had my two boys for about two weeks now, and I can tell I'm getting addicted because I've started figuring them into my long term plans. Who will take care of them when I go away for the summer... should I go away for the summer... You get the drift.

Ok, I'm a betta owner by accident...I rescued an office betta over a year ago from a wonderful coworker who is not a pet person. Then I rescued another office betta (living in a lily-vase hell) much more intentionally and now I'm thoroughly hooked .

A special betta I love? Well, I love Mighty Man because he never gave up in his teensy dirty cup. And because he's so cute when he goes to sleep in his hidey, with his head out one side and his tail out on the other

I love Pentecost, formerly of lily-vase hell, because he is the most good-natured, interactive and happy betta I've ever seen Nothing upsets him, he goes with the flow, and is always there when I need him.

I love Moonie because he's so beautiful, golden and white and glowing, and because he's always ready to play our game of "who's got the pellet" (Of course, he always wins )

I love Max because he is so sweet He is white with marbled purple, lots of fun and very cute, but really just takes life as it comes and doesn't stress. He's very peaceful and I love that about him.

I love Anakin because he's been battling fin rot and hasn't let it bother him! He takes meds or no meds, but eats, plays, flares, hides and eats some more. He's got a great attitude! And he's my best jumper - you've gotta love that.

I love Taz because of his fighting spirit He's my hardest to do water changes for because he thrashes and jumps so much. You've just got to admire a betta who tries so hard to take care of himself. At least I do. Maybe someday he'll understand I love him. I think maybe he does, just a little, but it's "our thing".

I love Tomahawk because he's so small, so dainty(no that's not intended as an insult) and so graceful, with his flowing long red and blue fins, and because he's my son's favorite betta ;D.

And I love Kelso because he's such a nut! He flares, he jumps, he hides and through it all he's beautiful and gentle looking even though you can tell he'd bite your finger if it came just a little bit closer...

And in memory - I loved Harold because he was my first betta and he lived through all the stupid things I did through inexperience and pure ignorance. I think he has forgiven me. I wish I could. And I loved Quigon, only for a month, but I did love him because he was so inquisitive...every mealtime was a surprise. He had no learning curve or long-term memory at all. Maybe he was a product of the 60's, betta-style Anyway, he was fun and sweet and I miss him

So yeah, I guess I want to hug all my guys.

Of course I talk to them. All the time. Doesn't everyone? How rude.

Of course I have a favourite! His name is Haku and he is still a baby....i talk to him, play with him, I worry about him, and I love him. I mean I take care of him like I would my own child. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night to check on him (he is only two months old). I love his personality and the fact that when he sees me he gets all excited. I mean I love my other betta too and take great care of him aswell but there is just a special place in my heart for Haku. ;D You are right I would never tell my friends this...they already think my fish habit is nuts!

Gandhi is my favorite. He is so much like his name. He is gentle but beautiful and he never gets hyper or nervous. He is a red, white and blue betta and it just takes my breath away when he extends his fins and patrols his ten gallon condo. His only roommate is a large golden inca snail named Blondie and he treats her with the utmost courtesy and has never shown her any aggression. He saves his aggression for the daily visit from the betta in the mirror.

;D This shall be fun lol. My favorite (even tho i like them all!) has to be Ravenous. He is named that because whenever he sees me go near his tank he does a whole show to get my attention and then when i hover over the bowl looking at him or put my finger near the top he comes right up and looks at me waiting for food and he also likes to play and follow your fingers around the tank. I also miss Bullet my old betta i gave away when I was alot younger . He used to fly around the tank so fast and chase your finger and then run away and flare up. But Ravenous still makes me happy lol .
