I would like to know if there is a cure out there for betta addiction. Symptoms include:
Irrational buying of new fish (such as when one is already having issues with the ones one has)
Spending hours watching their little fish antics, especially when one has other things to do
Coming home in the middle of the day to "check on them"
Doting on them and be proud of the strangest things (e.g. going in an out of a hidey)
Dreaming about them (I wish I was kidding): tanks leaking, fish fighting, jumping out, also good stuff, like have twenty or more to devote myself to, breeding, etc.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear about them. It’s finals week I don’t have time to take care of a new fish…but I bought one anyway (no name yet)
Sigh

Laura, I'm so sorry. I think you should sit down for what I have to say is very serious. . . There is no cure. That's right... You're terminal. While you may be able to seek counceling elsewhere; as long as you're here, we will continue to feed your addiction. You might as well embrace your illness and learn to live with it. ~Christie ps. I've had betta stress dreams as well. I dreamt I found my betta in my cat's mouth. Oh the HORROR!

The obsession doesn't stop there sweetie. I've had my boys oh, about 5 weeks and now I am becoming enamored with the thought of setting up a huge acquarium of various fish (including some she-she betta girls for later breeding) and think I may be getting a wee little frog soon too. Dividing the love amongst all the criters seems more rewarding sometimes than dealing with humans. Did I just say that? I'm a social, happy and kind person with dear friends however not having children, this new love allows me to release my ever so overflowing maternal yearnings onto beings that don't have to wag theit tail or do tricks to bring joy to my heart. My pals at work at first thought I was a little funny when I said my Betta boy Boe wasn't speaking to me after I left him at work for the weekend however they come in and check on him daily and I think are slowly getting bitten by the bug themselves. Little do they know it's terminal lol!
