Thanks! Rae, I'll let you know. I'm going to wait at least a couple more weeks, I just got them last Thursday and want to give them a chance to settle in. The Apaches have double tail genes too, they should throw some cool looking fry! www.bettatalk.com/apaches.htm

Beautiful additions, BMVP! The cull is a cutie, too.
Have you named them?

I haven't thought of any good names for them yet. I'm so bad about thinking up names! Any good suggestions? I can't name the Apache Geronimo though, Faith already used it!
Maybe more Lord of the Rings names. LOL

i dunno....for some reason the Apaches make me think of Rohan...maybe Theoden for the male and umm....hmm, can't think of any women in Rohan aside from Eowyn...what was the name of those flowers that grew on the burial mounds of the old kings....? *goes to check book* hmm...the book calls them simblemyne or Evermind...not sure if that's a good name for a betta, but it's the only thing in Rohan that's not Eowyn or a man as for the red crowntail...i dunno, something about him makes me think of dwarves...maybe it's his crowntail, like he's trying to seem bigger thank he really is...but i may just be completely off my rocker on that

Still no names, but thanks for the suggestions. These Apaches are so cool, the pics don't do them justice at all. Their fins remind me of feathers, they look like they should be soft to the touch, LOL. Here are a couple of new pics, I got the male to flare and voila!! He's a half moon or pretty darn close! Into the spawning tank we go! Either tonight or tomorrow, wish me luck!

Again, BMVP, they're all just beautiful ! (Now I'm confused, though, because what I thought was my little, female Cambodian?, Dora, looks remarkably like your female Apache... )

Apaches are a specific STRAIN of bettas, developed by Faith at www.bettatalk.com. The term Apache is not a genetic term, just a term for a specific strain. The term Cambodian refers to a specific genetic color combination, not a strain. The Apache female is a cambodian, actually a cambodian/red marble BF (geneticly), she is labled as an Apache because she is from that line/strain. In order to get an Apache, you have to either buy them from Faith, or get them from someone who has bought Apaches from her in the past and bred them... though she does not like people using her strain names, so they probably wouldn't be labeled as Apaches if bought from anyone but her.

BBG, The female actually has more red on her body than the pic shows, that one was taken right after I got her and she hadn't really regained all of her color.
As Megan said, Apache is the strain name that Faith gave to these bettas. They are technically Red Butterfly/Marble with piebald (flesh-colored) faces.
P.S. I did buy them from Faith, so they really are Apaches. ;D

That strain is growing on me. When you first posted them, I really didn't like them, but I really like them now...
