...not only that, but I think Leia is a grand name for a girl... ;D (Actually, my daughter's name is Leslie...I think she would have a problem with my naming a fish Cessly, which rhymes and is just a little too close for her sanity... ...or for her to believe mine still exists

Cute new guys! I've become more and more a fan of the white based coloring in bettas. I just love the one with the purplish tinge!

Thanks bethie I went to the fish store planning to buy one fish for me and one for a friend...but when I brought home these two, they are so unique and I have already fallen in love with them both so... ... yeah, I went back to the fish store today and brought home two MORE new fishies ;D One of these is really going to the friend - and one is for my son, whose fish Quigon died around Thanksgiving . The two newest are "just" blue with red highlights - and really long, flowing fins ... I say just because most of my other guys are in the blue family - but I have already decided which of these two I am giving away. So I cannot name him ... I cannot...

ABM - Beautiful Fish! and you got 2 more?! I think we are going to have to start a support group for ourselves. ;D Betta Buyers Annonymous. How is the naming coming? I think you should start a thread about names (of course, you probably have and I have just been away from a computer for too long!)

PPV, Yep, check out general chit-chat, How Did You Name Your Betta? Lots of great reading and ideas, but I think I'm leaning towards an idea that both BettaRic and sef pointed me towards - separate ideas that, taken together, have given me many hours of fun research ;D (Can you say get a life???) I'm trying to get pics of the newest guys (one of whom will leave in a couple weeks to a loving home but so far no luck - just bluish blurs hiding under leaves If someone wants a steady job, attempting to photograph fish that don't want their pictures taken would probably do it - definitely steady, although I don't know what kind of money it would bring in...

LOL - Yes, I often find myself talking to my guys when I have the camera - "No, no! turn back to the left!" and "Steady, Steady" "Look at me, PLEASE?!" and "@$*!#". I think it's easier to herd salamanders than get pics of some of these fish! How is the name-hunt going for your new guys? I also like new pic under your name!

Names are so personal, and so permanent I think I've settled on one name, and the other continues to elude me So far, though, they don't seem to care - "Hey, you," as long as it's accompanied by food, works for them ;D

Okay, the worst part about telling you all I even had these guys was that now you're expecting GREAT THINGS from my four-day ponderings for appropriate names oh, the pressure! Anyway, after getting to know my guys I have chosen names based on their personalities and that indefinable factor that says THAT'S IT! ;D And now for the unveiling... (drum roll please ) The white one with the purple on his back and fins is Max. Just Max. Not short for Maximilian or Maxwell (although my son, a Beatles fan, thought Maxwell's Silver Hammer was a better choice ). And the one in my profile picture is Moonunit. Just dont' ask. I've been trying to name him lofty-sounding names, following a star/astronomy theme (another interest of mine) or maybe something like Zeus or Comet or Stardust...but he's Moonunit . Probably end up as Moonie a good deal of the time . Reminds me of a time when I was a kid, about 11, and got two kittens after our old cat died. I had always wanted a kitten named Mittens, and the orange marmalade male kitten had little white paws - perfect. However, every time I called him, instead of saying Mittens my mouth said Boots. I tried for a month and then gave up. He was Boots. Anyway, thanks to all for your (polite) interest and sharing your own new fishie stories... Now I can sleep ;D

I like Max and Moonunit! You can refer to them as MM or M&M or the M&M's

Well, I already had Mighty Man (MM) - the funny thing is, Max is just...Max! He is SUCH a Max. Can't explain but it fits. And Moonunit was honestly supposed to be something more ethereal...but he's my Moon-man!
