I found the pictures. They are beauties! I notice that you like the aqua ones. Tomahawk (?) could be Kaluha's brother! What is your total count now?
I will have to bite the bullet, deal with the traffic, and visit the store. Sound like a real find!
Congrats on the new arrivals. Let us know what you name them.

BR - Which pic isn't showing good for you? Except that the quality of the photos is uniformly poor, I can see them both...of course, they are sitting on my desk in front of me I'll try more pics later on. Leigh - I was brief earlier, and don't want to bore the rest of the forum, as we discussed last night , but I think you would enjoy a field trip to this store. For those interested and knowledgeable in fish other than bettas especially, it's a real fish lover's paradise. I ended up being on my own so I didn't stay as long as I otherwise would have. But I agree with BR, the fish throughout the store seem well cared for, water is sparkling clean, and the employees appear generally fish-informed, although the girl who bagged up my guys is obviously not a betta specialist But as I said earlier, I did not go there for advice today - just new friends ;D I did not use the Mapquest directions - they took me all around on highways but it's not hard to find, heart of Buckhead. Let me know if you decide to go And thanks, everyone, for your support and encouragement, it means a lot to me

he looks really light colored. Just a tip - WATCH OUT FOR ICH!!! I lost Elwood because he was mostly white and I couldn't see the ich until it had moved to his fins, and then it was too late to save him, so WATCH it!
Aside from that, he's very pretty.

Mickey85, I'm glad you said something - both guys are white-based, one has a yellow shading especially on his fins but I thought even as I bought him, what if he ever gets velvet? How will I tell? Is there anything that I can use in the water to prevent ich from starting? I have them both in Bettamax now, they're both active, eating and checking out their new worlds. All of my bettas are males and all have their own tanks so I'm not worried about any cross-contamination possibilities (although, knock on wood, everyone is perfectly healthy right now ) I've never had a fish with ich - are there any symptoms besides the white spots? Like darting, not eating, etc.? And in the interests of being proactive, what in your opinion is the best treatment for ich? Many products claim to cure it...are they all correct???

"Don't worry, ABM..." What a silly thing to say to ME! ;D I was born worrying... But I am not in panic mode, just watching and learning.

I understand the "worry" thing. Every time I read about a problem someone is having with their Betta. I run over and stare at Kaluha convinced that he might have the same thing ;D It is a Mom thing

I just absolutely LOVE their colors! The lighter one looks positively celestial. ;D (And of course Blue Boy is a handsome guy, too!)
Congrats, congrats!

They are both white-based, but the one with purple "trim" photographs as blueish... very strange. Anyway, yes, I love them so much already - just pray for health and settling-in stresses to be minimal.

That one time that I got ich, it was because I used a net that I used on a new female with ich (baaad move). I CAN tell you, however, that if they're in advanced stages, they'll "mope" and breathe quickly, and usually look like they've got SBD with their nose pointing up. They'll take a breath, then sink back to the bottom, then swim up, etc. Since the spots are not 2 dimensional, if you look at them from an angle instead of dead on to the side, you should be able to see them before they get horrible.
As I said, the one time I got ich was because of a new fish and tool sharing, just watch out what tools you use with what fish and you'll be fine. INcidentally, the girl lived but my two first boys (the Blues Brothers) died. grrrr...

I know you do Actually, I have not been able to get a clear picture of that guy yet he keeps moving and although looking at him, he's mainly white with purple trim, the Bettamax sort of hazes over everything I have decided to keep both of these new guys, though so now on to naming...this is always so difficult for me

BettaRic, I started to write a smart-alecky reply to that suggestion but you know, in this case that actually might help me... I'll let you know................

GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE ;D I had to leave for a moment - "housewife business " - but while I was gone I was thinking of starting a new thread and asking people how they named their fish... This is scary....

...you are assuming I will eventually get brave enough to adopt female bettas and start a tank with more than one fish in it Geez, BR, before you know it you'll be expecting me to diagnose illnesses and determine my own treatments without first panicking and coming here in a dither - you must be thinking of some other abm...
