[glow=black,2,300]Just thought I'd throw this out here for fun. There seem to be a lot of animal lovers here with pets other than bettas. So who are you and what do you have?[/glow] Personally, I'm a complete animal nut. Beside's my bettas I have: 4 cats (Casper, Kenny, Sally and Victoria) 2 Dwarf Hamsters (Newton and Einstein) A five month old Golden Retriever (Sara) 11 Chickens (Abe, Henry, Elizabeth, Daisy, Wanda, Jill, Harriet and 4 yet to be named)

Hey there! I'm actually a first-time betta owner, but currently I also have 7 cats and 1 turtle. Sadly, one of my cats are probably going to be put to sleep in the next couple of days. He's 15 years old, and hasn't been able to eat, move much, or go to the bathroom in a week. It was really sudden that he got this way. I was his favorite, and I've had him since I was 6.

Aww, lilstar, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. Our pets really do become a special part of our family and it's always so hard to face losing one of them. I wish you and your kitty the very best. *hugs*

Thanks for your support! I had a few cries about it, but I mean, he's 15 and I think he's had a good life, so... I guess that's all I can do. He's lived through multiple surgeries to get to his age, so in a way I feel thankful. Sorry for bringing this subject into this thread though! I didn't mean to disrupt it, so let's hear about everyone else's non-betta pets!

Lindsey,
Check out William Woods College in Fulton, MO for horses. It is the oldest 4 year university with Equestrian Science as a major. They have riding and business majors. I went there for a year before I made the hugest mistake of not finishing with a major in Equestrian Science. It is a small college and very lively. The barns are on the campus and not miles down the road. If you want more info just let me know. I will see what I can find for you. ;D

I have a 1 year old black cat named Toby and an 8 year old Miniature pinscher named Stormie. I live on an Air Force Base in base housing and we are only allowed to have 2 pets or I would have a lot more. I absolutely love cats! Of course fish, they don't count lol.
My condolences lilstar, I know how it feels. My 14 year old blue point siamese kitty "Edgar" had to be put to sleep last year as he had cancer in his stomach and it was inoperable. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, but I could not stand to see him suffering. I got Toby about a month after Edgar died and it helped me so much having a new kitty to hug.

We have alot of other fish besides bettas:
Platties - too many to count
Gupplies - more than the platties
Silver Dollars - 3 big and 2 little (all rescues that had no fins when when we got them and have had some regrowth since then)
Plecos - lots (though one very large one that has been with us for years)
Goldfish - 8
Dwarf Puffer Fish - 2
Mollies - 16
We're thinking of getting a bird, but that's only thoughts at this point.

I love animals as well I just barely have the time to care care of 3 fish and my wonderful dauchsand Rosco.
I had a dauchsand named Heidi for 16 years and when she passed away, 2 weeks later Rosco showed up on our doorstep. How often does a stray dauchsand (of all breeds..not many stray dauchsands out there) just show up on your doorstep?
